Volunteer
As a non-profit developer Manna has a commitment to keeping costs at a minimum. Volunteers are a significant part of that process. Manna accepts individuals and groups as volunteers for construction, office work and/or special events.
Construction Work
Volunteers work alongside Manna staff carpenters in the process of developing a new home for a low- or moderate-income family. Because Manna construction projects are largely performed by sub-contractors, we generally do not have weekend volunteer construction opportunities.
Thank you to our group volunteers! The following groups have helped at Manna construction sites in the past: Bowie Gridley Architects, Fannie Mae, Fannie Mae Foundation, Calvert Foundation, LaSalle Hotel Partners, NeighborWorks America, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Georgetown Prep, Bishop Ireton High School, Messiah College, Bluffton College, Young Neighbors in Action, and several local faith communities, including Adas Israel Congregation, Holy Trinity Parish Hands on Housing, St. John's Church of Georgetown and the Maret School.
To arrange for a group or individual volunteer opportunity,

We are currently accepting volunteer groups. (Update: 7/18/2010)
Special Events and Office Work
Manna hosts two big events each year -- the Friends of Manna event in October and the Fun Run in March. We are often looking for volunteers to help us on the day of these events (and sometimes in preparation for these events). In addition, throughout the year Manna staff could use some help on different projects. As these needs change all the time, please contact Uche Ofodile at (202) 832-1845 or email uofodile@mannadc.org to discuss current opportunities. You may also contact her to place yourself on a volunteer list to be called for special events.
